Because the treatment recommendations for FIP continue to evolve rapidly, this session aims to update participants on the latest scientific evidence available in this field available in 2026. We will briefly review the algorithmic approach to FIP diagnosis, incorporating empiric drug therapy, and the current treatment protocols for different types of FIP. We will cover the prognosis for these cats and the risk for relapse, as well as discuss when it is appropriate to shorten treatment duration based on newly available research. Finally, we will incorporate an update on the ongoing use of black market products despite compounded product availability, and how this should inform the conversations that veterinarians have with their clients.
