This lecture will cover diagnosis of FIP and the complexities in FIP diagnosis. This lecture will explain differences between feline enteric coronavirus (FECV) and feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV), the pathogenesis of FIP as well as most common clinical signs of cats with FIP and will explain the different diagnostic tests for FIP in practice.
This lecture will focus on managing complicated cases of FIP, what to do if cats are not responding to medications, relapses of FIP as well as cats that develop comorbidities such as IMHA, sepsis, pneumonia etc. We will also address questions about treating cats with FIV/FeLV. We will discuss relapses of FIP as these are not so common and making sure we do not overdiagnose FIP relapse and avoid both unnecessary antiviral treatments as well as provide appropriate therapy.
The lecture will cover best practices in terms of eye submission, and we’ll review a few cases where histopathology ended up being a crucial tool for the case/patient.
In this lecture we will review common diseases that affect older cats including hyperthyroidism, chronic kidney disease and intestinal disease. We will discuss these diseases on their own and the approach to managing multiple comorbidities in the older feline patient population.
The lecture will first review mechanisms that regulate behavioral changes associated with physical disease, focusing on the intersection of stress, inflammation, and the microbiome. A review of published evidence on behavior changes associated with physical disease and inflammaging.
