Meet Jordan Ricketts, Southeast Specialty Representative for Epicur. Jordan brings a unique blend of scientific curiosity, deep veterinary-family roots, and a genuine love for relationship building. Get to know more about Jordan and the insight, care, and commitment she brings to the Epicur team.
We’re excited to have you on the team, Jordan! Can you share a bit about yourself and your role at Epicur?
Absolutely! I’m the Southeast Specialty Representative for Epicur, based in Jacksonville, Florida. My territory includes Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, and Louisiana, so I stay on the road a good bit. I call on specialty hospitals—internal medicine, ophthalmology, emergency, feline only practices—and I’m still in my introductory phase, so it’s all about building those foundational relationships right now. And honestly, that’s one of my favorite parts of the job. Getting to know doctors and teams across the Southeast has been incredible.
You came from orthopedic veterinary sales. What inspired that transition into veterinary pharmacy?
When I moved to Florida a few years ago, I began working in ortho sales and loved it. But I’ve always had a strong interest in the science behind pharma. Transitioning into Epicur has been both exciting and challenging—in a good way. There’s a huge portfolio to learn, so those first months felt like being back in school, but I thrive on that kind of learning curve. I grew up in vet med—my mom is a small animal veterinarian, and my sister is in pharmacy school—so having them to ask questions and bounce ideas off of has helped a ton.
How familiar were you with 503B outsourcing facilities before joining Epicur?
I knew of 503B outsourcing facilities but not the details, even growing up with a veterinarian as a mom! It’s surprising how many doctors still aren’t familiar with the differences between compounding and 503B manufacturing. Once I started at Epicur, I realized just how big that educational gap is. That’s a huge part of my job now: helping veterinarians understand the quality, consistency, and reliability we can offer as an FDA registered 503B outsourcing facility.
How do you explain the difference between compounded medications and 503B-manufactured medications to veterinarians?
It really comes down to clarity. I explain that compounding is essential for individualized prescriptions—and always will be, which is where Stokes Pharmacy comes in for our brands—but when a medication is commonly used across patients, getting a manufactured option for in-office use from a 503B facility means higher consistency, better quality, and longer shelf life. That last part hooks a lot of vets: longer expiration dates mean less waste, fewer backorders, and more confidence in what they’re dispensing. Quality has always been a core value for me, so it feels good to advocate for medications I truly believe in.
What made you want to join the Epicur team?
I wanted to work for a company whose products I fully believe in. Long before I applied, I knew Epicur was top of the line. I’d seen them at VMX years back, and they stood out immediately. So, when the opportunity came up, it felt like a perfect fit. In veterinary sales, you need to believe in what you’re selling—and I absolutely do here.
What’s been the most rewarding part of your job so far?
Hands down getting to talk about the FIP medication, made by our sister company Stokes Pharmacy. I’m a cat person at heart—I have two rescues—so FIP is something I feel deeply connected to.
When my mom had her first FIP case a few months ago, she called me immediately. Being able to help her, knowing we’re the only company with clinical studies behind our product, was a full circle moment. And seeing that cat do so well felt huge. I also love meeting feline practitioners and ER teams who are just as passionate about this topic as I am.
You mention relationship building a lot. How do you approach building loyal relationships with veterinary teams?
Honestly, it’s about showing up—consistently and with genuine curiosity. I ask questions, learn what their day-to-day looks like, understand their pain points, and find small ways to make their jobs easier. Veterinarians and technicians are working incredibly hard, and if I can support them—whether through education, solutions, or simply being available—that means everything. Over time, those working relationships turn into real friendships. And that’s the best part.
What trends are you seeing in the veterinary field right now?
One big trend I’ve noticed is more practices keeping medications in stock rather than scripting everything out. That’s huge for convenience, cost savings, and patient care. Even my mom’s clinic—which hardly stocked anything years ago—is now keeping more essentials on the shelf. When clinics can rely on consistent, high quality medications from a 503B facility, it makes that shift much easier. I think we’ll see more and more hospitals moving in that direction.
Do you have a favorite specialty so far?
Ophthalmology! They’re incredibly knowledgeable, and the field is so detailed and unique. I also grew up around my mom’s ophthalmologist in Tennessee, so I’ve always admired what they do. Epicur has a huge ophthalmology following thanks to our eye drops and ointments with longer dating, and because of our involvement with the annual ACVO/Epicur Service Animal Volunteer Eye Screening Event (ACVO®-SAVES™).
I’ve loved getting to build relationships with those specialists—both small and large animal. The amount of knowledge required for their work is mind blowing!
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I do long-distance running and spend a lot of time at the beach—I’m just a six minute walk away. My dog Lily comes to the beach with me; she runs around like a maniac. My fiancé and I are getting married in June, so life is busy but exciting! And of course, caring for my animals takes up a big chunk of my time. I grew up around all kinds of pets, from dogs to flying squirrels, so my life has always been full of critters.
Any final thoughts?
I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of a company that prioritizes quality and supports veterinarians with reliable medications they can trust. Every day, I get to connect with brilliant veterinary professionals, learn something new, and help make their jobs a little easier. That’s what motivates me.
Thanks, Jordan! We’re grateful to have you on our team! And, if you ever get the chance to meet her, don’t forget to ask about the flying squirrels – it’s a story worth hearing!
